About This Subsite

This is the website of the former Australian Film Commission, now part of Screen Australia.
Screen Australia is an Australian Government agency operating under the Screen Australia Act 2008 (Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts).

Screen Australia commenced operation on 1 July 2008, bringing together the functions of the Film Finance Corporation Australia (FFC) and Film Australia Limited, as well as most of the functions of the Australian Film Commission (AFC).

The former Australian Film Commission (AFC) was an Australian Government agency operating under the Commonwealth Film Program (Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts) to ensure the creation, preservation and availability of Australian audiovisual content.

The National Film and Sound Archive, part of the AFC from 2003 to 30 June 2008, has now been established a separate statutory authority. See www.nfsa.gov.au Several programs of the former AFC were transferred to the NFSA, including the screening programs Big Screen, Black Screen and School Screen, and the digital resource australianscreen online.
